Accreditation Division

What Accreditation Division is all about?
The Papua New Guinea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (PNGLAS) of NISIT is the National accreditation body of Papua New Guinea. The PNGLAS was established through the NISIT Act 1993 under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The establishment of the scheme within NISIT allows the scheme to voluntarily accredit and monitor all testing laboratories and other Conformity Assessment Activities, such as certification and inspection in Papua New Guinea.
The PNGLAS operates in compliance with PNGS ISO/IEC 17011, General requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies.
Accreditation is the formal recognition that an organisation is competent to perform specific processes, activities, or tasks in a reliable credible and accurate manner. These such organisations include inspection bodies, certification bodies and testing laboratories. Accreditation recognises that these organisations have the technical competence and impartiality to check the conformity of products and services with the relevant national and international standards.
