APEC Sub-Committee on Standards & Conformance - PNG Contact Point Services

APEC Sub-Committee on Standards & Conformance (SCSC) – PNG Contact Point is another administrative facility currently administered by NISIT as being the Lead Agency in Standards and Conformance in Papua New Guinea.

The APEC SCSC – PNG Contact Point was established in 2000 by the Institute. NISIT being the lead agency in S&C in PNG is charged with the administrative undertaking of the administering and managing the in-country affairs of the APEC SCSC in PNG.

The Objectives of the APEC SCSC – PNG Contact Point are as follows:

  • Provide an avenue for information dissemination on matters of the APEC SCSC Forum to all National Stakeholders involved directly and indirectly in S&C activities at the national level
  • Advise all Stakeholders on the latest developments in the SCSC Forum regarding the Regional Developments and Issues on S&C Matters
  • Provide an avenue for information exchange on APEC SCSC at the national level through involvement with Government, Private Sector and Interested Groups and Industry Associations etc
  • Provide an Internal forum for NIST as per its policies, programs and services on regional collaboration and cooperation

Based on the objectives of the APEC SCSC PNG Contact Point, the following programs and services underpinned by its roles and functions are administered namely:

  • Information Sharing and Dissemination on the APEC SCSC Developments including Regional Programs, Projects and Initiatives
  • Provide Advisory Role in-country to all Stakeholders concerned
  • Administering and Facilitation of Nomination of Nominees for Participation at APEC SCSC sanctioned Programs (Nominees from outside NISIT)
  • Provide Advisory Role as National Contact Point to PNG APEC Secretariat
  • Provide Advisory Role to the APEC SCSC Secretariat
